PARASTOU FOROUHAR

kann wunderschöne Geschichten erzählen, die vielleicht nicht
wahr sind. Ich habe schöne Erinnerungen an mein Land, von denen
ich nicht weiß, ob ich sie manipuliert habe. Irgendwann in einer
Zeit, die ich auf kein Datum festlegen kann, habe ich angefangen, um
den Begriff „Heimat“ eine Illusionsburg aufzubauen. Und seit dem
wächst meine Heimat unsichtbar und schön in meinen

Parastou Forouhar, 1962 geboren in Teheran/Iran, lebt und arbeitet seit 1991 in Deutschland. In ihrer Kunst untersucht sie Wahrnehmungs- und Identitätsstrukturen verschiedener Kulturen sowie geistige, politische Werkzeuge diktatorischer Staatswesen. Dafür bedient sich die Künstlerin einer hochwertigen, eigenwilligen Ästhetik. Die in der eigenen Kultur vorgefundenen bildnerischen Elemente werden in neue Zusammenhänge gestellt und erfahren eine Bedeutungserweiterung. (Text: ann-Katrin Harfensteller) "... I'm Persian and

sure whether or not I have distorted these memories over time. At some
point, though I'm unable to say exactly when, I began to build a
sanctuary of illusions around the notion of "homeland". And since then,
an image of my homeland has taken shape in my mind, both invisible and
beautiful to me at the same time..." (Parastou Forouhar)
Parastou Forouhar, born in 1962 in Tehran (Iran), has been living and working in Germany since 1991. Her artwork explores the perceptual and identity structures of various cultures, as well as the mental and political apparatus of dictatorial political systems. The artist uses superb, individualistic aesthetics in her work. Sculptural elements found in her own culture are put into a new context and take on extended meaning.
